The Minister of Communication, Mohamed Meziane, praised, Sunday evening in Algiers, the national media's support to the Algerian athletes through continuous media coverage that helps motivate them and promote the noble values of sport.
'Today, we are proud of our national media who accompany Algerian athletes through continuous media coverage that helps motivate them and promote the noble values and position of sport in society,” said the Minister of Communication in a speech delivered during the ceremony rewarding the best athletes of 2024, according to the results of the Brahim-Dahmani poll organized annually by Algeria Press Service (APS).
Meziane welcomed this event, which he described as “a space bringing together the media corporation and the sports family, through specialized press that embodies the close link between sports and media.”
This event is “an opportune moment to highlight the national press's commitment to promoting sport across all disciplines, contributing to its development and encouraging elites and top athletes,” added the minister, considering that the Brahim-Dahmani poll, launched by APS in 1977, “is the best illustration of this complementarity of which we are proud.”
The Minister of Communication extended his congratulations to both the poll’s winners and all Algerian athletes who brought national pride through their Olympic, world, and regional championship victories this year.
He also commended APS's significant professional advancement, particularly its initiative to expand coverage into major world languages.
The Minister expressed his hope that APS would emerge as both a national leader and influential global player, staying current with latest developments to ensure reliable and effective information delivery.
